When I was just old enough to be trusted with craft scissors, my mother sat me at the kitchen table to make shapes out of construction paper. After leaving me for mere seconds to answer the phone, she came back around to find me cutting my shirt off (and not cutting away from myself either).
Since my early moments of creative expression, I have taken the greatest pleasure in leaving my mark on every blank space I have come into contact with. The best job I ever had was teaching art lessons at Art 101 in Livonia, MI that sparked a love affair with Prismacolor markers, colored pencils, pastels, acrylic paint, ink, and more. I opted out of art school in hopes of being a bio major that transformed into English and history of art along the way. Alongside stints in development and policy wonkage, I have gone back to art in fits and starts. Lino cuts have been a newer love of mine. This is a place to share the work I’ve done in the last few years and remind me that I can always come back to it.
Also, I do enjoy creating pieces for others. Even if you’re stumped, we can talk it through, I promise. Find me at writetolayne @ gmail dot com.
This is my cat, the Baroness Kitten Von Mittenberg. She is 17 years old. We hang out.
